About Me

I’m Chris Young, currently serving as a Director of Development and Senior Physical Therapist at Presidio Sport & Medicine in beautiful San Francisco, California. I grew up in a small town in Maine called North Yarmouth. Back in high school, I was a three-sport athlete, which sparked my lifelong love for athletics and staying active. It was also during this time that I experienced my first orthopedic injuries, leading me to become a physical therapy patient. That experience planted a seed—I realized I wanted a career where I could help people while diving deeper into the fascinating workings of the human body.

My journey to becoming a physical therapist officially began in 2009 when I was accepted into an accelerated PT program at Ithaca College. The program combined three years of undergraduate studies toward a Bachelor of Science with another three years of graduate work to earn my Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT). While at Ithaca, I played three years of varsity basketball (DIII) and later joined the club basketball team during my senior year in graduate school. In 2015, I proudly graduated with my DPT, ready to turn my passion for helping others into a fulfilling career.

After graduating, I decided to jump into traveling physical therapy with a classmate to explore different settings and figure out where I wanted to build my career. Eventually, I found my passion in outpatient orthopedics and made my way to Chicago.

I started with Athletico Physical Therapy in the Lakeview neighborhood as a staff PT. After two years, I was promoted to clinic director at a neighboring facility, where I discovered a newfound passion for organizational health. I loved the challenge of managing teams, mentoring others, improving employee well-being and engagement, and diving into business analytics and development.

During my time in Chicago, I met my now-wife, and together, we decided to move to California to be closer to family. That journey brought me to my current role as the Director of Development at Presidio Sport & Medicine. In this position, I get to wear many hats: treating patients, mentoring and supporting clinicians, driving business development for our small, privately owned company, creating leadership opportunities, and designing new roles that help the company grow.

I genuinely enjoy every aspect of my work—whether it’s helping patients achieve their goals, seeing clinicians thrive with my mentorship, or contributing to the success of our organization. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m excited about what’s ahead!

Let’s connect! I’d love to hear from you and explore how I can help you achieve your goals!
